If you did nothing else when visiting Clonakilty but visit The West Cork Model Railway Village, it would be a day well spent.
Adults and children will enjoy this fascinating scale model of the West Cork Railway line as it passes through the towns of Clonakilty, Bandon, Kinsale and Dunmanway.
Life in the 1940s is vividly captured in the streets and buildings of these towns as the model steam trains wind their way along the 100s of metres of outdoor track through tunnels, over bridges, stopping at stations along the way.

Model Railway Village - remote control boats
The meticulous recreation of houses, shops and buildings brings a sense of realism to the fantasy and both children and adults can get lost in the scene for hours.
There is also a good cafe on site as well a children’s play area with remote control boats. An audio visual display is also available and the whole experience is both educational and highly entertaining.
Another popular service at the Model railway Village is the Choo Choo Road Train, a 30 minute tour of Clonakilty on board this fun train.
