West Cork Literary Festival 2018 is the 17th year of this festival which celebrates writing and reading for people of all ages.
It now boasts a busy programme of readings, talks and workshops with some famous writers, poets and critics dispensing their wisdom.

The events take place at various locations in West Cork including Bantry, Whiddy Island and Glengarriff.
Some of the highlights of this year’s festival include:

Sat 14th July 2018: Louise O’Neill, author of ‘The Surface Breaks’ in conversation with students from Coláiste Pobail Bheanntraí at St. Brendan’s School Hall Bantry.
Sat 14th July 2018: Caitríona Perry (RTE newsreader and former Washington correspondent) speaks about her book In America: ‘Tales from Trump Country’ at The Maritime Hotel Bantry.
Sun 15th July 2018: Imogen Hermes Gowar, author of ‘The Mermaid and Mrs Hancock’ joins visitors aboard the ferry to Whiddy Island.
Sun 15th July 2018: Fintan O’Toole lectures on Bernard Shaw and the Uses of Celebrity. O’Toole will explore how Shaw, who stayed at The Eccles Hotel in Glengarriff, created his own brand. – at The Maritime Hotel Bantry.
Mon 16th July 2018: Andrea Carter, author of the Inishowen Mysteries series, Death at Whitewater Church, Treacherous Strand and The Well of Ice is at The Bantry Bookshop.
Mon 16th July 2018: The Poetry Divas: Amanda Bell, Kate Dempsey & Maeve O’Sullivan at Organico Café, Bantry.
Mon 16th July 2018: Bernard MacLaverty Booker Prize-nominated author of novels, short stories, dramas and screen plays introduces his latest novel “Midwinter Break” at The Maritime Hotel.
Tue 17th July 2018: India Knight, who writes for The Sunday Times and is the author of four novels and five non fiction books will be at The Maritime Hotel.
Wed 18th July 2018: Muhammad Khan who is the author of ‘I am Thunder’ is an engineer and secondary-school maths teacher wil be in conversation with transition year students from Coláiste Pobail Bheanntraí at St. Brendan’s School Hall Bantry.
Wed 18th July 2018: Dame Margaret Drabble, author of eighteen novels including A Summer Bird-Cage, The Millstone, The Peppered Moth, The Red Queen, The Sea Lady and The Pure Gold Baby will be at The Maritime Hotel.
Thu 19th July 2018: Award-winning poets John F Deane and James Harpur will be at Bantry Library.
Fri 20th July 2018: Chibundu Onuzo who was born in Lagos, won a Betty Trask Award and was shortlisted for the Dylan Thomas Prize and the Commonwealth Book Prize for her first novel, ‘The Spider King’s Daughter’, will be at Bantry Library.
